Christ my whole life is a WIP. But I've got a folder full of half written stories and scenes and some of these could be so very, very good, if I could put on paper what I see in my head. Here are the ones I'm most dedicated to finishing at some nebulous point in time.

I don't know what I was thinking limiting this to 5, but here's the rulez:

Pick the top 5 fics that have made a deep, unending impact on you. It can be something that made you cry, angry or happy. Just so long as it's something that really stuck!

1) Retrograde by Martha Wilson.
The fic that got me into SGA fandom. She might have quite unreasonably stopped after ONLY 16 installments, but in my head this verse never stopped.

2) A dish served cold by Kevin H. Robnet
I used to be in trek fandom and I used to be in Highlander and above all I used to be into crossovers. And dish served cold is the best of both Worlds. A clan denial story where Richie Ryan has a falling out with his mentor after he decides that instead of cutting of people's heads, he'd rather found starfleet. It's the kind of premise that can only transcend it's sillyness if you take it really, really seriously. And Robnet does.
I still consider this one of the most beloved stories even though I've kissed both fandoms goodby.

3) Break the day by Ecolea
This fic isn't going to be for everybody. After 9/11 there was a Spiderman issue that featured Marvel heroes pulling people out of the rubble. This story is a little like that. Using Methos as a trope to describe what happened. I figure the author just had to give it a place even if that place happened to be in a piece of highlander fanfic.Whatever she was thinking, for me it always instantly recalls that feeling when I turned on my tv and watched the planes fly into the towers. 

4) Stuck by Kolyaaa!
Stuck just works for me. It pulls on my heartstrings in all the right ways. Reading it is like riding a roller-coaster. Some of Astolats stories do that for me as well, but this is deliciously long and perfect for when I want to kick back and get some instant emotional gratification in small doses. I love me some cliches and Kidfic where Rodney is the kid; WIN!

5)  Logical solutions to inlogical situations by Sardonicsmiley
Yes, despite the major flounce this is still one of my all time favorites. Cuz the truth is, like Atlantis in this story, I also think Rodney Mckay is like a maltreated fluffy kitten and I just want to tuck him to my bosom and make it all better.


I could keep going. I want to keep going and share all the stories I love. Picking a top 5 was agonizing and there are stories that should have gotten a shared ranking, but thems the rules and I decided to stick with them.

Why I am like a little kid:

1) They let me drive, vote, do drugs and get laid.
2) I get to live all on my lonesome, even if my place is a pigsty.

Why I am like a middle-aged person:
1) I'd just as soon lounge on my couch then go out.
2) I go to the theater and museums (which plenty of young adults I know do, but... well so do my parents).

This was surprisingly tough, cuz a lot of the names I did recognize, didn't really raise a mental picture. So there were a lot of times I went: I might want to sleep with that guy... if he's really ... you know... that guy!

Which Ten (or less) movies/series would you visit? Why?

1) Doctor who; come on. It's the ultimate, everything is possible verse! Also, someone has to shag Jack, since both the doc and Rose seem to be resisting his charms.

2) Charmed: As long as I got to be a witch. I'd love to have powers and be able to one up the haggy sisters by being far more practical then they've ever managed to be! I'd have loads of potions ready for every occasion, crystals permanently shattered through the house, plus wards so that no demon could enter without my knowing about it. And you'd never hear me nag if I had a husband who could transport us all over the globe (incidentally his name would be Chris).

3) Harry Potter: As long as I could be a witch. Wouldn't mind an exchange year at Hogwarts....

4) Startrek: Can you imagine being a historian in that universe? So many cultures at you beck and call. Wouldn't join the federation though, cuz boring!

5) X-men: Again with the powers. Allthough it would have to be the movie verse and not the comic, since EVERYBODY seems to hate mutants in that...

6) Pleasantville: It's just so pleasant! 

7) Discworld: (they're making a movie about it now! It counts) Can you imagine visiting Ankh-Morpork?

8) Buffy: I'm conflicted about that one. What appeals to me is the close tie between the scooby's, especially in the early years and I would love to be part of an extended family like that. But the danger and angst level is just a little too high for my liking. 

Well, that concludes my list. There are other fandoms that appeal to me,  but those I couldn't visit without drastically changing their nature. Like; be an immortal, but without people trying to cut of my head!

Yay, new MEME Nabbed from other people... okay person.

Well I'm back from Curacao. God it's cold here! But I won't complain since at least I got to spend two weeks lounging on the beach and seeing interesting critters and climbing cool, steep mountains (well, hills really, but whatever) and that's more then any of my friends got to do. Point and case, one of them is lying flat with a nasty stomach bug... *snif*

Still don't really have time to screw around on line, but I just found out by accident that after three weeks my connection is suddenly back! Yay! Must show self control!


Just for the hell of it, a very brief; How can you recognize a Korilian story meme;

1) It never ever gets posted because I keep re-writing and re-writing and eventually give up.

2) The main character is the funny, conflicted sidekick. Rarely the hero.

3) It's big on the adopted family/ close friendship shipping. Romance is optional.

4)It's usually a crossover.

5) My antagonist gets bitchslapped just so he can overcome the odds but end the adventure with a spanking new trauma.

6) If I promised angst, it'll end up being comedy.

7) There was a fairly intelligent, interesting thought behind the story, that never quite made it into the story...

8) I don't take it out on characters I don't like, except when I'm spoofing. In that case Angel get's killed by a splinter when Buffy kicks in the door... (I was severely traumatized by the Buffy/ Angel lament *shudders*)

9) I try very, very hard to keep everyone in character.

10) Good overcomes evil and evil overcomes good.

There's recently been a plagiarism kerruffle going on, concerning liz_marcs story, revelations and two RPG-ers that came up with this truly ingenious and oh so original premise... Oh wait. I already mentioned the plagiarism thing didn't I.

Right. Let's just say it greatly resembled one of those badfics where you simply quote an entire script, but insert clever Character thoughts. Or possibly a dog. 

They didn't give credit.

Now (and please don't kill me for this, cuz I love 'Revelations. Am down with the plagiarism bad bandwagon and that they were way out of line) the two players, particularly in the beginning were taking a pretty goofy tone with this. And there might have been a line of two that tickled my giggle muscles.

Truth be told the whole thing reminded me ever so slightly of one of  othercat's comments on badfic thingies (Just the tone mind. So not calling you a plagiarist!).  

And it got me thinking on a MeMe. Or possibly a Fic-A-Thon?
